Latest News From Gromit Unleashed

2013 ended on a real high for the Gromit Unleashed project. Following on from the amazing success of the Gromit Unleashed trail in Bristol during the summer, there was continuing interest in this fantastic initiative which has raised over £2 million for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal. In the December there was an eBay auction of one-of-a-kind artworks and the year ended with Aardman's very own Gavin Strange delivering his 'Stat’s the Way to do it, Lad!' Gromit to Bristol Children's Hospital, where it will remain on a long-term loan thanks to the private buyer who won him at auction!

Gromit update

Gavin, who by day works as a designer at Aardman, was delighted to hear his Gromit will be based at the hospital for young patients and their families to enjoy, explaining:

"It’s been such an honour to be a Gromit Unleashed artist, so to then find out that Stats is going to live in the very place that the project was designed to help, well it doesn’t get any better than that does it!? It’s come full circle and I’m over the moon to know that Stat’s will live there – the generosity of the buyers who kindly donated him to the hospital is so heart-warming, it really is the perfect end to the story. I hope it will bring a smile to the children and families in the Hospital!"

Over at official Gromit Unleashed store, based at the Mall Cribbs Causeway, business has been extremely brisk with the Paint Your Own Gromit kits flying off the shelves! The shop and online store will remain open through 2014 where you can buy a range of Gromit Unleashed merchandise, including mugs, books and artwork.

Thanks to everyone who has supported Gromit Unleashed - 2013 was a truly amazing year!
