Wallace & Gromit bench unveiled in Preston!
A stunning Wallace & Gromit bench has been unveiled in Preston, to celebrate Nick Park (who was born and grew up in Preston) and his world famous creations!
The bronze bench, inspired by The Wrong Trousers, has been installed outside Preston Markets and is open to visitors who can sit down and have a photo with the iconic duo. The beautiful bench was unveiled to the public last week, with Nick and Preston's Mayor and Mayoress on hand to open it to the public. Local school children were also invited to witness the big reveal, along with photographers and journalists who captured the day with some wonderful photos!
The bench, which is part of a wider investment to encourage people to enjoy their cities again after the pandemic, has been designed by Nick and the team at Aardman, with the help of local sculptor Peter Hodgkinson, and was hand crafted with incredible care and attention to detail at the Castle Fine Arts Foundry in Wales.
After the sculpture was announced in June, Nick Said "It is such a great honour for me, as a proud Prestonian, to see my characters Wallace and Gromit cast in Bronze and given pride of place in my hometown".
Mayor of Preston, Javed Iqbal, commented "I look forward to seeing the many photographs and selfies taken with the iconic duo over the coming days and weeks. This fun new addition to the city centre is a sight you don't want to miss".
You can find the bench outside of Preston Markets, close to the entrance on Orchard Street. Don't forget to tag your photos with #WallaceGromitBench and #WallaceandGromit!
