The latest Cracking Ideas competition was all about making a cracking sporting invention! From special shoes to make you run fast, to a machine to help you take penalties in football, we wanted you to come up with a cracking invention that would help you play sport!
With all the entries submitted, the Creative Director of Wallace & Gromit, Merlin Crossingham helped judge the final winners! After lots of deliberation, the winners are...

Jessica Williamson from Scotland (in the age 4 – 7 category)
"Jessica embraced all aspects of the brief with a great logo idea and team song but most of all because it the most fun. I would really see this invention being built in Wallace’s basement. It’s also a great example that sometimes the simplest idea is the best one!"
Britney-Ann Guest from England (in the age 8 – 11 category)
"Britney-Ann has covered every aspect of launching a new idea with great attention to detail including a website. As Wallace has two left feet when it comes to dancing, these would be very high on his shopping list!"
Elliot Comnene from Scotland (in the age 12 – 16 category)
"Elliot has really embraced the sporting theme along with a clear understanding of copyright. He has presented his idea really clearly but most of all Wallace himself would have been very proud to have come up with this idea, but clearly he can’t because Elliot has got there first!"
Merlin was very impressed with the ideas everyone came up with, as he explained:
"With the nation going sport mad this year these inventions will help inspire athletes to use their minds as well as their bodies! As like last year the range and orignialtiy of ideas was very high and made it very diffuclt to choose overall winners. It’s refreshing to see so many great ideas from young people. Keep it up!’’
Well done to all the winners and everyone who created a cracking sporting invention! The next Cracking Ideas competition is all about space! Visit the Cracking Ideas website and to find out more and get started on your own cosmic contraption!
