"Wallace goes for a walk with unfortunate results! I had to do this animation for a college course and chose Wallace as my character. I hope you like it!"

WOW! THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! AMAZING!!! What CGI software did you use? How'd you scuplt Wallace?:DI'm SUCH a fan of CGI!!

jordan Jan 8th 2008 2:00pm

cute a fiat 500!

rastophulus Jan 8th 2008 2:12pm

>> What CGI software did you use? How'd you scuplt Wallace?

I did it using a program called 'Maya' (it's what lots of film studios use to do CGI) then I added the sound and titles using another program called 'VideoMach'. Maya has a sculpt tool and that's how I made Wallace.

ala Jan 8th 2008 2:38pm

what an exelant clip

Mark the shark Jan 8th 2008 2:44pm

I've got the demo of Maya! It's good, ain't it! ;) Which tool is it? Is it poloygons or NURBS or Subdivisions or something like that?:D

cavor Jan 8th 2008 3:09pm

Super job rastophulus nice bit of humour.
I wish Maya were on the syllabus at my local college

OK, I admit the flat back head is slightly off-putting but this is fabulous!:)

Mark the shark Jan 13th 2008 12:33pm

I just watched this on Youtube!

Mark the shark Jan 13th 2008 1:25pm

I just downloaded the free demo of VideoMach! It's great!:D

dachappell Jan 14th 2008 8:45am

Ruddy well brillitant. I love the attention to detail like the beach ball and the kids yelling.:)
I use Bryce and Poser for my CGI software:). Please, Please, Please,Please,Please,Please,PLEASE!!! do another one.

Mark the shark Jan 14th 2008 2:29pm

YES! DO ANOTHER ONE! And Dachappell, where do you get Bryce and Poser. I've heard of it but I thought of Maya being the best since I have the demo and am buying the real thing after Easter, hopefully! WHOOPEE! The background detail is brilliant! PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER ONE!!!

Mark the shark Jan 14th 2008 2:31pm

This has inspired me to make a Wallace and Gromit CG film and post it here. I'm gonna try it!;)

rastophulus Jan 15th 2008 2:26pm

Go for it Mark! Maya is really good but there's a awful lot to learn before you can even start!. If you've got videoMach there's loads you can do with any 3D modelling program and screenshots (press Ctrl-Alt-PrtScr on Windows to copy a picture of the screen to the clipboard) then you can string them together in videoMach.

Happy animating!

gromitlove Jan 17th 2008 8:55pm

The sharp shadows make it seem like it takes place in southern California, but of course in America clotheslines are forbidden. Maybe Greece?

gromitlove Jan 17th 2008 8:56pm
:D
Mark the shark Jan 18th 2008 2:19pm

Thanks v-much Rastophulus. Glad to see ya back! I have downloaded VideoMach, however I'm not sure if it was a demo because it was free but oh well. I'm about to order Maya soon. It will rock! The demo does. Are we going to see another one of these! I would LOVE to see another!:D

rastophulus Jan 18th 2008 9:59pm

I really want to do another but my college work is taking up all my time... :o( I'm doing computers but I wish I'd done animation instead! I've got 1 more module to do which is animation but it won't be up to me to choose the character (sigh). I'd love to try and do Wallace talking - my favorite bit is in A Close Shave where he says 'Windows are our speciality' - it's REALLY well done!

>>The sharp shadows make it seem like it takes place in southern California

Nay Gromitlove! That's Preston, Lancs that is! Evenin' sunlight in Preston - yer can't beat it!
